Differences within the Rajasthan Congress emerged in wake of the panchayat elections held today with the state committee issuing a show cause notice to the woman's unit president for siding with a dissident candidate.
The State Congress Committee, on the reports by party observers, has served show cause notice to the woman's unit President Mamta Sharma but she denied receiving any such notice from the state Congress president C P Joshi.
The differences within the Congress came forth when Sharma openly supported Rakesh Boet, who refused to withdraw his nomination (filed as an independent after Congress denied him a nomination) in spite of the party fielding Lalchan Chandal.
Sensing factionalism within the Congress, the BJP, at the last moment, decided to withdraw the name of its candidate Radhashyam Padhya, leaving the dissident Congress candidate and nominated one to slug it out between themselves.
