Seven persons were sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court here after they were found guilty of being involved in the murder of four men.
Additional District Judge K P Singh sentenced Ajit Chaubey, Naveen Chaturvedi, Munna Chaubey, Chandrachoor, Bhagwati Rai, Krishna Singh and Arvind to life imprisonment in the multiple murder case.
According to prosecution, chairman of district panchayat Akhilesh Singh, his two brothers Arvind Singh, Dayashanker Singh and an aide Satya Prakash Singh were shot dead at PWD crossing in July 2004 over tender related rivalry.
A case was lodged against 11 people and a chargesheet was filed in the court, the prosecution said.
While two accused have died, while another accused Kaushal Chaubey is at large and carries a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh on his head.
Another accused Arun Chaubey is still on trial.
