Sub Inspector Daya Nayak, the absconding 'shootout specialist' of the Mumbai Police was Monday suspended from service in the wake of a disproportionate assets case.
The sub inspector, two of whose associates have been arrested by the Bureau (ACB), was dreaded for his expertise at eliminating wanted criminals through shootouts
Nayak, who faces charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known income and has moved an anticipatory bail application, has been absconding after the ACB raided his home Friday night.
According to sources, Nayak, who draws a basic monthly salary of Rs.9,000, is worth around Rs.1 billion. Officials put his benami properties and investments worth anywhere between Rs.400 and 450 million.
